Healthy Habit #15-Deal with your mail!

I don't know about you but the hardest part about staying organized is dealing with all the "stuff" that comes into my home.  Today we are going to start focusing on the mail clutter!

I challenge you to get rid of those mail piles!

Clutter causes stress-conscious stress or not-it's there!  Piles grow like weeds! Yesterdays pile f mail is a good home for todays and so on and so on.  Disorganized piles of mail can lead to overdue bills and misplaced papers.

First you have to set up an efficient system based on your routines right now.  Do you get your mail when you get home from work and have 500 other things to do?  Do you get the mail as soon as it comes?  You will want to create a habit of sorting through the mail everyday. Make a rule to never set mail down on the dining table, or kitchen counter so there is no chance it ends up there! Consider setting up a mail station with a bin and a trash can close to your entry way so that when mail comes in you can trash the junk and toss the important stuff in your bin to be sorted later that day. While you are trashing mail-toss the outer envelopes to bills and important papers before putting them in your sort bin.

Sort your mail once a day.  If you are home to get your mail when it comes-don't even have a "sort" bin simply sort after weeding through the trash.  If you are not home or have no time to sort after you get the mail-make a time of the day to sort and religiously stick with sorting the mail so it doesn't pile up!  When sorting-distribute the magazines where you and your family will read them.  Take this time to trash the magazines already read through.  If you want to save an article-rip it out and place in a scrapbook or file or find it online and bookmark for future reference.  (don't forget to post it on Healthy Mamaz FB page if it is a useful article!) Distribute your bills into an easy system.  -tips for this needed!!

Good luck-and get-a-sortin'!
